Born in Sydney and raised in Adelaide, Gillie’s professional life in the international mining and exploration industry has taken him across the world and provided access to people, places and landscapes far removed from conventional photographic settings. PHOTOGRAPHY THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Gillie’s photography encompasses portraiture, wildlife and landscape, combining his interest in photography with decades of international travel and personal experience.

His work is not confined to a single subject. Instead, it records the people, wildlife, environments and moments encountered along the way — from intimate human studies to the scale and character of the natural landscape.

His first photographic book, Inkwenkwana (Small Boy), developed from photographs of his son Jack and reflects the personal dimension that also runs through his photographic work.
