An impressive large-format mechanical Flying Ball skeleton clock, produced as a modern interpretation of the elaborate French mechanical clocks of the 19th century.

The exposed brass mechanism is arranged within an architectural framework of turned columns, decorative scrollwork and urn-form finials, surrounding twin enamel chapter rings displaying Roman numerals and minute indications.

Above the mechanism is the unusual suspended “flying ball” regulating system, creating a fascinating mechanical display when operating.

The entire clock is protected within a substantial rectangular glass and brass display case, mounted upon a dark timber plinth incorporating a small front drawer.

At approximately 47 cm high, this is a particularly imposing decorative clock and considerably larger and more elaborate than the commonly encountered small flying-pendulum novelty clocks.

Type: Flying Ball / Flying Pendulum Skeleton Clock

The clock is currently not operating correctly and requires professional mechanical servicing/repair.

One section/numeral of the enamel chapter ring is missing and will require replacement.

The clock is therefore offered as a restoration project. No representation is made regarding accuracy, completeness of the movement or duration of operation until professionally serviced.

An exceptionally decorative mechanical display piece even in its present condition, and an excellent candidate for professional restoration.
