An exceptional lifetime-signed example of Sunset Lightning by renowned Australian landscape photographer Peter Jarver (1953–2003).

Captured over Darwin Harbour in November 1982, Sunset Lightning combines two of the natural phenomena for which Jarver's Northern Territory photography became celebrated: the extraordinary colour of a tropical sunset and the immense electrical storms of Australia's Top End.

The official Peter Jarver Fine Art Photography catalogue identifies Sunset Lightning as a Gold Award-winning photograph and confirms that its limited edition of only 50 has SOLD OUT.

Sunset Lightning captures an extraordinary moment in which a towering tropical storm develops across Darwin Harbour as the setting sun illuminates the surrounding clouds.

Deep violet storm clouds dominate one side of the composition while brilliant gold, orange and amber light breaks across the horizon.

Within the storm itself, multiple lightning strikes illuminate the cloud structure from within, culminating in a brilliant bolt reaching the water below.

The combination of sunset, tropical thunderstorm and lightning in a single exposure produces one of Jarver's most dramatic Australian skyscapes.
