PRO HART (1928–2006) — Two Faces

mber Antiques Art & Clocks is pleased to present Two Faces, an original oil-on-board painting by celebrated Australian artist Kevin Charles “Pro” Hart MBE (1928–2006).

This striking modernist composition depicts two highly stylised figures confronting one another, their elongated faces constructed through sweeping geometric forms in yellow, green, black and deep red.

Of particular significance, the painting carries DNA security authentication, part of the sophisticated authentication system introduced to protect original works by Pro Hart from forgery. The National Portrait Gallery records the use of Hart's genetic mark through the DNA ArtGuard process on genuine works.

The title and dimensions are independently supported by a historical advertisement from House of Phillips Fine Art, Mosman, NSW, formerly an exclusive NSW agent for works by Pro Hart, which records:

“Two Faces – Pro Hart – Oil on Board – 20" × 23".”

Pro Hart remains one of Australia's most immediately recognisable artists. Born near Broken Hill, he worked as a miner before becoming a full-time artist at approximately thirty and held his first solo exhibition in 1962.
