Rare NOS Horolovar “IGNATZ” Flying Pendulum Clock – Original Box & Papers – West Germany

Exceptional New Old Stock Horolovar “IGNATZ – The Craziest Clock in the World” Flying Pendulum Clock, complete with its original box, factory packaging, flying pendulum assembly and extensive original paperwork.

This famous novelty clock uses an extraordinary flying-ball pendulum system, where the suspended ball alternately circles the two posts above the clock to regulate the movement.

The Horolovar reproduction was based on the celebrated 19th-century American flying-pendulum clock design. Horolovar arranged for Gebrüder Staiger of St. Georgen, West Germany, to manufacture the reproduction, which was introduced to the American market around 1960.

Collector Quality Example

Unlike the many surviving Ignatz clocks that have spent decades on display, this example has remained preserved in its original packaging.

The clock itself presents exceptionally well, while the original cardboard box and packaging naturally show some age and storage wear.

The original packaging, paperwork and labels have deliberately been retained as they form an important part of the clock's history and collectability.

A comparable New Old Stock Horolovar/Jerome Flying Pendulum Clock with original packaging sold for US$749 in March 2025, demonstrating the substantial premium attached to preserved boxed examples.

New Old Stock / unused vintage condition.

Due to its age, the clock is being offered as a collectible vintage mechanical clock rather than being represented as recently serviced. Long-stored mechanical clocks can require cleaning, lubrication or adjustment before regular operation.

I have deliberately not restored, polished or altered the clock, preserving its originality.
