Tugsbaatar Daramsuren — Feelings

Ember Antiques Art & Clocks presents Feelings, an original abstract work by contemporary Mongolian artist Tugsbaatar Daramsuren.

Born in Erdenet, Mongolia, Daramsuren is a professional artist whose work encompasses both representational and abstract painting. He has held several solo exhibitions and has described abstraction and experimentation with colour as an important part of his artistic practice.

Feelings presents a darker and more introspective side of the artist's abstract work.

Built around a predominantly black and charcoal ground, the composition gradually reveals layers of muted olive, grey, ochre, cream and blue, interrupted by small but powerful passages of red and pink.

Scraped and layered surfaces, freely drawn lines, splattered pigment and partially obscured geometric forms create the impression of images or memories emerging and disappearing within the darker field.

Rather than presenting a literal subject, Daramsuren allows colour, texture, gesture and contrast to communicate emotion, making the title Feelings particularly appropriate to the work.
