Vanity Fair Caricature. supplement "Tiggy" - by Spy

An original early 20th-century Vanity Fair caricature by celebrated British portrait caricaturist Sir Leslie Ward (1851–1922), better known by his signature “Spy.”

Published as a Vanity Fair Supplement on 7 August 1907, the portrait depicts Sir Richard Henry Williams-Bulkeley, 12th Baronet (1862–1942), under his familiar nickname “Tiggy.” The portrait forms part of Vanity Fair's celebrated Men of the Day series and is catalogued as No. 1078.

Williams-Bulkeley was a prominent Welsh landowner and yachtsman who served for many years as Lord Lieutenant of Anglesey.

Ward portrays him characteristically dressed in dark yachting attire and peaked cap, standing confidently with a pipe in one hand—an excellent example of the elegant but gently satirical society portraiture for which Vanity Fair became famous.
