Following the Japanese invasion of Burma in 1942, occupation authorities introduced military currency to replace existing monetary arrangements.

These banknotes formed part of the wider system of Japanese occupation currency issued throughout territories under Japanese military control in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

The BA series prefix identifies the note as an issue intended for Burma.

After the end of the war in 1945, these occupation notes ceased to function as circulating currency, but surviving examples became historical collectibles.

This banknote displays genuine-looking age and circulation wear, including a prominent vertical centre fold, general toning, softened corners and minor edge wear.

The principal printed designs remain clearly visible and the note appears substantially complete.

Condition is estimated as Fine from photographs. The note has not been professionally graded or independently authenticated.
