An original-looking 1943 Japanese Government Ten Pesos banknote, issued for circulation in the Philippines during the Second World War.

This historical banknote features the Rizal Monument in Manila, dedicated to Philippine national hero José Rizal, alongside elaborate black and green ornamental engraving.

The reverse displays a striking green guilloché design with the words “TEN PESOS” and large denomination numerals.

Issued during the Japanese occupation, these notes became popularly known as “Mickey Mouse Money”, reflecting the severe inflation and loss of purchasing power experienced during the war.

A tangible piece of Philippine and Pacific wartime history.

Japanese forces occupied the Philippines during the Second World War, introducing occupation currency under the authority of the Japanese Government.

The 1943 issue replaced earlier designs and incorporated serial numbers and numbered printing blocks.

Following the liberation of the Philippines and Japan's defeat in 1945, the currency ceased to have monetary value.

Today, surviving notes are collected as historical artefacts associated with the Japanese occupation and the Pacific War.

This banknote shows visible age and circulation wear, including a central vertical fold, general discolouration, light staining, softened corners and minor edge wear.

The printed design and serial number remain legible, with no obvious large missing sections.

Condition is assessed from photographs. The note has not been professionally graded or independently authenticated.

An affordable addition to collections of Second World War memorabilia, Japanese occupation currency, Philippine banknotes and Pacific military history.

Photographs show the actual banknote offered for sale and form part of the description. Please examine them carefully for condition.
